However, London is huge, and walking around aimlessly in search of the perfect photo spot is not practical. That's why we've done the hard work for you by selecting the very best Instagram spots in London, including secret finds and famous attractions. Get ready to be inspired!
10 Instagrammable Places in London
1) Neal’s Yard
Neal's Yard is one of my personal favourite places in London to photograph. It's a unique location that was saved from demolition in the 1990s. Today, it's a vibrant area with an array of colourful buildings and lush greenery. You can find it tucked away down two secret passages near Covent Garden.
2) Sky Garden
The Sky Garden is a beautiful garden located on top of the "Walkie Talkie" building on Fenchurch Street. It is a popular place, and getting a free ticket to access it requires booking weeks in advance. However, not many people know that you can go up to the Sky Garden for breakfast without booking ahead. All you need to do is buy a cup of coffee or a croissant once you're up there, and you're good to go. The best part is that there are no crowds to ruin your experience or photos.
3) The Barbican Conservatory
It's difficult to pick favourites in a city filled with numerous photogenic places, but we have no shame in admitting that The Barbican's stunning conservatory is one of our personal favourites. The best part is that it doesn't cost anything to visit.
However, the downside is that if you want to take photographs in peace, you need to arrive as early as possible to increase your chances of finding a good spot.
4) View of St Paul’s from Millennium Bridge
The view of St. Paul's Cathedral from Millennium Bridge is one of the most iconic shots of London that you can take. Standing on the bridge, you will have the perfect framing and composition of the legendary St. Paul's Cathedral, which sits comfortably between the contemporary architecture of the City of London.
5) Pastel Houses in Primrose Hill
Snap a cheeky #OOTD in front of pastel houses at Primrose Hill. Gloucester Avenue and Chalcot Square are popular spots, but wandering around for an hour reveals many more pastel doors to photograph.
6) Peggy Porschen
Peggy Porschen is a bakery situated in Belgravia that is famous for its visually stunning exterior painted in pastel pink colour, decorated with beautiful rose bushes. The bakery is a popular spot among royals and celebrities alike, and their cupcakes are not only scrumptious but also perfect for Instagram-worthy pictures.
7) The Colourful Houses of Notting Hill
Notting Hill is a picturesque area of London that's well-known for its Instagram-worthy cafes and boutiques. However, the main attraction of this area is the colourful houses on streets like Lancaster Road and Portobello Road. It's important to note that these are actual people's homes, so it's crucial to be respectful and not treat them like a movie set. Please avoid posing in front of people's front doors and show consideration for others.
8) Radio Rooftop
To be frank, Radio Rooftop is not among our preferred bars in Covent Garden due to the long queues on Fridays and the less-than-ideal service. Despite this, the bar is immensely popular, and it's all thanks to its exceptional location with one of the best rooftop bars in London. For optimal photo opportunities, you might want to visit when it's less busy during the day to take full advantage of the stunning views.
9) Street Art in Shoreditch
The street art scene in Shoreditch is truly world-class, featuring murals from the legendary Banksy and other leading street art names from around the world. If you're not sure where to start, the roads surrounding Brick Lane are filled with all kinds of colourful pieces by artists like Dale Grimshaw and Mr Cenz, to name a few. Be sure to set aside at least two hours to fully appreciate the area, but you'll almost certainly need more time for all the photos you'll want to take while you're there.
10) London Eye
The Coca-Cola London Eye has been a popular tourist destination since it opened at the start of the new millennium. It offers great opportunities for taking pictures of the River Thames and the Palace of Westminster. Once you hop into your capsule, make sure to take that iconic shot of the capsule, the River Thames, and the Palace of Westminster right after reaching the apex of the journey.
Conclusion:
This list offers a variety of picturesque locations in London that are perfect for taking Instagram-worthy photos. From the colourful Neal's Yard to the stunning view of St. Paul's from Millennium Bridge, this guide is a valuable resource for discovering hidden gems and iconic landmarks. Not only will it help you capture the charm of London on social media, but it can also assist in growing your Instagram followers.
