Receive acceptance from a SEVP-approved school:

The first step of the USA study visa process is applying for admission to the university you want to pursue.  As an international student, you have to make sure the university you are applying for is the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) approved university. If the admission panel receives your admission application, then the university will issue you a Form I-20. I-20 is one of the crucial forms needed to start further visa processing. Without getting an I-20 form you cannot start the future visa processing. So, make sure you apply to more than one university. If the one university rejects your admission application, may the other one accept and issue an I-20.

Pay the SEVIS fee:

After getting an I-20, you have to pay the SEVIS fee. This fee is also known as the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System fee. The SEVIS fee is not the visa application fee. Most of the students assume that the SEVIS fee means a visa application fee. However, the SEVIS fee is separate from the visa application fee.

Complete the DS-160 form:

After paying the SEVIS fee, you have to fill out the DS-160 form online. The DS-160 form is a non-immigrant visa application form that applicants have to fill. Applicants who apply under different visa categories including the F-1 student visa category have to fill out the DS-160 form. Make sure you fill out the DS-160 form carefully and provide all the needed and accurate information.

Schedule a visa interview:

Once you have done with your DS-160 form, you have to apply for the visa interview at the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate in your home country. For that, you can apply online and book your interview slot.  Within 24 hours, you will get your interview slot confirmation via email. Then, you have to start your USA study visa interview preparation.

So, all the documents must be original and valid. So, you have to gather all the documents including your passport, Form I-20, DS-160 confirmation page, SEVIS fee receipt, financial documents demonstrating your ability to cover tuition and living expenses, academic transcripts, standardized test scores, and any other supporting documents
